Re: Altec Diaphragm on Ebay
bonjour ? tous !

I copied and pasted this into "google translate" to see if it was spam and this is the translation:
"hello everyone!
I am the purchaser of the membranes altec 23744,
proud owner of a pair of model 19, I noticed a difference between two
802 8g. one is mounted with the standard capsule 26___ and the other with the model 23744.
Comparative listening on different type of signal shows a sharp rise, a "transparency" with 23,744 ...
I have a spectrum analyzer, but not the possibility of publishing. I will wait to receive the package and will certainly keep you informed!
ps: apologies for not being able to answer correctly in American ... sorry"
Freevox please use "google translate" to post in English....

Re: Altec Diaphragm on Ebay
Anymore on this topic? I'd love to see some new and accurate graphed comparisons. I have model 19s and this has been bothering me as I have the new diaphragms in them and wonder what (if anything) I am missing. I do feel that they are rolled off a bit tho....Maybe just the character of the speaker? Or maybe the newer, thicker diaphragms? I do know that the review of Model 19s from the 70s in one of the audio magazines mentioned that they had a mellow top end with a roll off from 12k on up. So maybe that's what I'm hearing. Any help is greatly appreciated! Thanks

How old are the caps in your networks?
Have you done the ground bypass mod?

Yes this topic has been all over this board. And IMO it is the most important thing you can do to your 19's to get them performing their best. It made a huge difference in mine.I know the search feature really Stinks ! But google should find it.
I still have to measure my brand new pair of 802-8G's with the 23744.Just have priority's trying to complete a DIY project first.Plus my measurement gear is down at the moment.
